Germany's Bundeswehr leases five Heron TP drones from Israel Aerospace Industries under an agreement worth roughly €1 billion over nine years, approved by German lawmakers in 2018. The German Heron TP (GHTP) completed its first flight in German airspace on May 15, 2024.
Poland is the only European Union (EU) country operating the Turkish-made Bayraktar TB2, with a final batch bringing its fleet to 24 aircraft under a 2021 agreement worth roughly $270 million. The Royal Australian Air Force operates the Northrop Grumman MQ-4C Triton for maritime surveillance, with 3 aircraft in service as of 2026 out of 4 ordered, and is separately acquiring the MQ-9B SkyGuardian under Project AIR 7003 valued at roughly $1.3 billion.
